India has never been and never will be a US ally, Washington says

Kurt Campbell, the US administration’s policy coordinator for the Indo-Pacific region, said that India is not an ally of the US and probably such an alliance will not be created in the future.
However, according to him, this does not exclude the possibility of a close partnership between the two countries in many areas.
“India is a great power, and we are ready to develop partnership relations with it on a mutually beneficial basis and maintain cooperation on many issues,” he stressed in his speech in Washington.
