Residents of Yerevan brought flowers to the Russian Embassy in memory of the fallen Russian peacekeepers. About it reports “Sputnik Armenia”.
“My deepest bow to mothers, wives, sisters, daughters [погибших миротворцев], brace yourself. I am sure that books will be published and history will sort everything out,” said one of the residents of the Armenian capital in an interview with TASS.
According to Sputnik, among those who came to the embassy was the brother of goalkeeper Roman Berezovsky, Alexander.
On September 20, Russian peacekeepers came under fire from the Azerbaijani military in Nagorno-Karabakh. Five servicemen were killed, and the Azerbaijani Prosecutor General’s Office linked the death of another person to the actions of “unidentified members of illegal Armenian formations.” Baku officially apologized to Moscow for what happened.
The day before, on September 19, Azerbaijan began “anti-terrorist measures” to “restorate the constitutional order” in Nagorno-Karabakh. The next day, the Karabakh authorities announced a ceasefire and the surrender of weapons.
