In Ukraine, they proposed to legalize captured weapons

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine advocates the legalization of captured and found weapons. This was stated by Deputy Head of the Department Igor Bondarenko in an interview with Ukrinform. He stressed that the new norm could be included in the law “On the right to civilian weapons”, which is being considered by the Verkhovna Rada.

The official noted that we are talking about weapons that “do not belong to Ukraine” and “do not have a criminal trace.” In this case, a citizen should be able to legally keep a pistol or machine gun with him.

Bondarenko notes that the law should also provide for the forced seizure of weapons. For example, if the owner commits a number of administrative offenses. Or subject to criminal liability. In this case, the weapons will either be taken away for a while, or they will be forced to sell.

The representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs added that the weapons in the hands of the population should be kept “for self-defense.” At the same time, there should be clear state control over the number of barrels in private hands, and over the owners themselves.

Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine has already stated that the legalization of weapons will reduce the level of aggressiveness of citizens. Now there is an increase in robbery attacks throughout the country. Previously, Kyiv uncontrollably distributed weapons to the population. Only in the capital more than 25 thousand units of machine guns and pistols were given into private hands.
