In Ukraine, the circumstances of the collision of two aircraft L-39 are being investigated

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation of Ukraine (SBI) are investigating the crash of two L-39 combat training aircraft in the Zhytomyr region, which killed three pilots. A criminal case has been opened on the fact of the accident, the State Bureau of Investigation reported on its Telegram channel.

The incident happened the day before, on August 25. According to the Ukrainian bureau, the planes collided in the sky on Saturday afternoon during a combat mission near Zhytomyr. As a result, three pilots of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine were killed. The department is said to be conducting an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.

“Particular attention will be paid to the study of the technical condition of aircraft, compliance with the rules for preparing for flights. Specialized specialists will conduct a thorough diagnosis of the black boxes.

The State Bureau of Investigation clarified that the incident was previously qualified as a violation of flight rules or preparation for them (Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The sanction of this article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to 15 years.

Local media previously reported that among the dead was a pilot with the call sign Juice. His death, according to the publication, was confirmed by the Armed Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At the same time, the Ukrainian press previously wrote that two MiG-29 fighters crashed as a result of the collision.
