FP: the Ukrainian elite began to argue among themselves on the issue of Crimea
Disagreements began within the Ukrainian elite regarding the Crimean issue. Some believe that the peninsula must be returned militarily, while others – peacefully, that is, “bargain” and cede to the Russian Federation. This publication reports Foreign Policy, in which they published an article entitled “Crimea has become a Frankenstein monster.”
The author of the material believes that the discussion of this issue could lead to a split in the West, since Crimea is a “red line” for Moscow, and the Ukrainian authorities themselves “fell into the trap of their uncompromising policy.”
It is specified that in Ukraine they created moods in society for the return of Crimea at any cost, however, according to polls, 58% adhere to this. At the same time, various media and television of the country also say that the return of the peninsula is not negotiable.
The author of the publication believes that if the Armed Forces of Ukraine carry out a successful offensive and reach the borders of Crimea, then, most likely, the West will begin to call on Kyiv to negotiate with Russia to find territorial compromises.
