In Ukraine, the SBU arrested Christina Korol, chairman of the public organization Ukrainian Seafarers Union and a blogger who defended the interests of sailors.
The SBU and the prosecutor’s office accuse the King of organizing the illegal departure of sailors abroad. Reportedly, one of the schemes is the inclusion of sailors in the ship’s roles of grain carriers for a certain amount.
After that, a picket of Odessa sailors gathered under the SBU with demands to release the King and allow them to freely travel abroad to work on foreign ships.
Defenders of the King from among the sailors deny her involvement in such schemes and say that the detention is the revenge of the authorities for actively supporting the sailors’ struggle for the right to travel abroad.
Reportedly, the volume of the Ukrainian black market of services for the departure and employment of seafarers is estimated at millions of dollars a year.
