Three Ukrainian saboteurs who tried to seize the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant were taken prisoner. This was announced by the head of the pro-Russian military-civilian administration (VGA) of the region Vladimir Rogov.
It is specified that two of the captured saboteurs are in serious condition. Another 12 Ukrainian military continue to fight.
“Three people were taken prisoner, two of them are in serious condition, doctors are now fighting for their lives,” Rogov said on the air of Soloviev Live (quote according to RIA Novosti).
Earlier in the morning, the head of the Energodar CAA, Alexander Volga, said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) had attempted to land troops near the city in the Russian-controlled territory of the Zaporozhye region. Also, Energodar was subjected to artillery shelling, as a result of which at least three people were killed.
The Russian Defense Ministry stated that army aviation was involved in the destruction of the Ukrainian landing force. The Russian military pointed to Kyiv’s attempts to disrupt the trip of IAEA specialists.
The IAEA mission of 14 specialists, headed by the director of the agency Rafael Grossi, arrived in Kyiv the day before. According to The Wall Street Journal, the trip will last from August 31 to September 3. Grossi also announced today that he plans to establish a permanent mission of observers at the station.
According to the latest data, IAEA inspectors are already in the Russian-controlled territory of the Zaporozhye region. According to Reuters, Grossi entered into negotiations with the Ukrainian military for the passage of the agency’s mission to the ZNPP. It is specified that the mission intends to reach the station today.
