In the US, the number of applications for unemployment benefits fell to the lowest since the fall of 2022

The number of applications for unemployment benefits filed by US citizens for the last reporting week (January 7–13) was about 187 thousand, follows from report Ministry of Labor of the country. Compared to the previous week, this figure decreased by 16 thousand. At the same time, so few new applications for unemployment benefits in the United States have not been filed since September 2022.
The downward trend in unemployment in the country is confirmed by average data over the last four weeks. This figure fell to 203.2 thousand, which is the minimum for 11 months.
The number of citizens continuing to receive unemployment benefits is also decreasing. According to the results of the last reporting week for this indicator (December 31 – January 6), their number amounted to 1.81 million people. This is the minimum since October last year.
