The US military is ready, if necessary, to train Ukrainian pilots on the F-16 in the United States, Pentagon spokesman Pat Ryder said at a briefing.
“We stand ready to support training efforts here in the continental United States if the limits of opportunity are reached in Europe,” Ryder said.
“I don’t have any specific information on what bases training can take place at now, but of course, if a decision is made about this and we move forward, we will definitely provide this information,” he added.
Earlier, Washington decided to approve the transfer of F-16s to Ukraine from Denmark and the Netherlands. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen later announced that her country would send 19 F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. At the same time, the Kiev regime is in disarray due to the postponement of the delivery of F-16 fighters by Western partners, according to the NBC News channel.
The United States pointed out that Ukrainian pilots need to learn English to master the aircraft, in addition, it is necessary to train mechanics and engineers who will prepare and maintain the aircraft. Another unresolved issue is what range of weapons will be supplied to Ukraine. Thus, the formation of combat-ready F-16 squadrons in Ukraine is possible only next summer, the American media write.
