“If you look at all the information we have been able to gather so far, having to turn to initiating impeachment proceedings is a natural step forward,” he said.

According to the Republican, the grounds for initiating the impeachment proceedings were the investigators found “76 reports of suspicious activity from the Biden family’s bank accounts, testimony of whistleblowers about bribery, and alleged evidence that 20 shell companies transferred money that was directed to family bank accounts.”

Late July McCarthy suggested initiate impeachment proceedings against Biden to further investigate allegations of corruption related to him and his son Hunter.

Earlier, Politico wrote that Republicans suspect Joe Biden and his son of involvement in corruption schemes in Ukraine. Trump’s associates believed that Hunter could be involved in the corruption schemes of the Ukrainian oil and gas holding Burisma, where Hunter was a member of the board of directors. The son of the incumbent US president has already been featured in corruption scandals. Federal charges were previously filed against Hunter following an investigation by Delaware Attorney David Weiss. The investigation itself was launched back in 2018 and initially focused on potential violations of tax and anti-money laundering laws in foreign business transactions, mainly in China. Attorney Weiss’ office said Hunter Biden received over $1.5 million in taxable income annually in 2017-2018. As a result, he made a deal with the investigation, confessing to non-payment of taxes. Representatives of the Republican Party criticized this deal, calling it too soft.
