In the UK, clarified the status of the wife of Charles III Camilla

The second wife of Charles III, Camilla Parker-Bowles, became queen consort and received the title of Her Majesty. About it writes KP.RU
There was confusion about the status of Parker Bowles – the royal court at different times changed its position on this matter. In addition, Camilla, having married the heir to the throne and received the titles of Princess of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall, chose to be only a duchess. She did not want to be associated with the first wife of Prince Charles, Diana, calling her the Princess of Wales.
The spouses of British monarchs do not have any constitutional status, they only bear the title of kings or queen consorts, the publication notes. However, Camilla, after officially marrying the heir to the British throne, became a princess consort. Such a special statement was issued by the royal court, having no previous similar precedent.
After 3 years, this statement disappeared from the official website of the Windsors, but reappeared in 2020.
Elizabeth II herself put an end to this confusion: in her message on the occasion of the Platinum Jubilee of being on the throne, she separately stated that she would like to see Camilla as queen consort after Charles ascends the throne.
The Duchess of Cornwall was also listed as Queen Consort in the official announcement from Buckingham Palace on the death of the British monarch.
It is noted that the prefix “consort” in the UK in relation to the spouses of monarchs is not pronounced. Etiquette obliges to address them as kings.
Thus, Camilla is now correctly addressed as “Your Majesty”, and then, already in a conversation, she can be called “ma’am.”
