Former Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin announced June 26 (Monday) day off. The mayor described the situation in Moscow as “difficult”. Prior to this, a counter-terrorist operation (CTO) regime was introduced in Moscow and the region.
This is happening against the backdrop of the actions of Wagner PMC and its founder Yevgeny Prigozhin. On June 23, he accused the army of shelling the camp of the military organization. The Ministry of Defense stated that this information is not true. After Prigozhin’s threats, the FSB opened a criminal case on the fact of calling for an armed rebellion under Art. 279 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.
Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin, in his video message, called the actions of PMCs a betrayal. He stated that all those who prepared an armed rebellion, “took the path of blackmail and terrorist methods”, will be punished – “they will answer both before the law and before our people.”
