Law enforcement officers detained ten people in the Kherson region in December on suspicion of working for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), reported regional department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
“Since the beginning of the month, law enforcement officers have detained ten people suspected of aiding the armed formations of Ukraine as members of sabotage and reconnaissance groups or observers and spotters,” the report says.
The department also spoke about the seizure of 507 weapons from illegal circulation this month, including six assault rifles, 28 pistols, two grenade launchers, 470 hunting rifles, 212 grenades, 11 kg of explosives and an easel machine gun.
On December 14, the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs announced detention two Ukrainians, aged 17 and 18, who served as spotters during the shelling of the territory of the Kherson region on October 9, as a result of which three policemen were killed. The first of them was detained on the territory of the region, and the second was hiding in the Krasnodar Territory.
Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. Russian President Vladimir Putin called the protection of the inhabitants of Donbass, as well as the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine, its goals. During the special operation, Russian troops took control of the LPR, as well as most of the DPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions. Subsequently, these territories became part of Russia, and on October 19 martial law was introduced in the regions.
