The authorities of the Kherson region have lowered the hryvnia exchange rate from 1.5 to 1.25 rubles. The new course in the region has been set since September 6, follows from the decree signed by the acting head of the pro-Russian administration of the region, Sergei Eliseev. Document published in the official Telegram channel of the Kherson region.
“From September 6, 2022, all credit institutions, banks in Kherson and the region are required to apply the new rate when exchanging currencies,” the message says. It is noted that the innovation should simplify the implementation of financial transactions in the region.
Earlier, the hryvnia exchange rate against the ruble was reduced in the DPR, LPR and Zaporozhye region. Now the cost of one hryvnia in the regions is 1.25 Russian rubles. The decision came into force on 5 September.
During the Russian special operation in Ukraine, the entire Kherson region came under the control of the Russian military. On July 3, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu also reported to Russian President Vladimir Putin on the complete liberation of the LPR. According to him, the DPR is currently being released according to plan. Also under the control of the Russian military is most of the Zaporozhye region.
Since the end of June, in the Kherson region and part of Zaporozhye, the rate of 1.5 rubles per hryvnia was set. Also at the end of July, the authorities of the Kherson region announced plans to withdraw the Ukrainian hryvnia from circulation. Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the military-civilian administration of the region, specified that only the Russian ruble would be used in the region.
