The Russian Ministry of Finance placed federal loan bonds (OFZ) in the amount of almost 764 billion rubles in the first quarter, fulfilling the quarterly plan by 95.5%. This is reported by Interfax. Initially, the ministry planned to place bonds worth up to 800 billion rubles. at nominal value. The last auction took place today, March 27.

The maximum volumes of placement of new government debt at primary auctions were recorded on January 17. Then, in one auction, the ministry sold bonds worth 97.053 billion rubles. Also, two auctions did not take place during the quarter. The first was supposed to take place on January 17, and the second on March 13. The reason for the cancellation of placements was “due to the lack of applications at acceptable price levels.”

On March 20, the Ministry of Finance adjusted its borrowing tactics, offering investors only long-term OFZ issues.
