The Russian Ministry of Defense reported that on the evening of February 9, Ukrainian armed forces tried to attack Russian civilian transport ships using unmanned boats in the southwestern part of the Black Sea. The attack was repelled, the department reported.

“As a result of the attack, civilian transport vessels and ships of the Russian Navy were not damaged,” the Ministry of Defense reported.

The department’s statement notes that patrol ships and naval aircraft were used to repel the attack. One unmanned boat was destroyed with the help of artillery, the rest with the help of electronic warfare (EW).

Last time the Ministry of Defense reported about a similar attack on civilian transport ships in August 2023. Then three unmanned boats attacked ships heading to the Bosphorus Strait in the southwestern part of the Black Sea. The attack was repulsed.
