After airstrikes by the Turkish military, two power substations in the Syrian province of Al-Hasakah failed, SANA reports. According to a statement by Saleh Idris, director general of the provincial electricity company, Turkish attack drones carried out a “direct attack” on transformer substations in the cities of Qamishli and Amud.
Earlier, the Turkish Ministry of National Defense reported the destruction of 24 facilities belonging to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), banned in the country, during operations in northern Iraq and Syria. The air strikes continued for a third day and were launched in response to the death of nine Turkish soldiers in an attack by PKK militants.
According to information from SANA, Turkish aviation continues to conduct operations in the northern regions of Iraq and Syria. It is known that the United States has recently provided weapons, ammunition and intelligence information to PKK militants. This has caused concern in Ankara.
