Experts from the Russian company Armax have developed a fake lens “Shield”, which is capable of masking thermal objects from drones with a thermal imager.
According to Mikhail Zakroev, general director of the Armax company, a film was used in the design to cover the objects, onto which the surrounding area is projected. “Shield” has already been successfully tested on quadrocopters.
“The drone flies, sees the ground, knows where the person is, flies around, but does not see the object. A man comes out from under the “Shield” – the drone detects him. Objects hidden under the “Shield” will not be visible even from space. It looks like some kind of magic,” says Zakroev.
Now, Armax plans to present its technology to the Russian Ministry of Defense in order to conduct the next stage of testing.
