The grain harvest this year in Russia can reach a record 145 million tons. Such volumes are predicted by the Institute for Agricultural Market Studies (IKAR), informed TASS, its director Dmitry Rylko.
“A record high, about 145 million tons in total, and wheat – 95 million [тонн]. This will be an absolute record,” Rylko said.
Among the possible risks, he named late harvesting. According to the head of IKAR, if the weather worsens in the regions of Central Russia and the Volga region, farmers risk losing part of the crop, and its quality may decrease.
According to Rosstat data published in February, in 2021 the grain harvest in Russia amounted to 121.3 million tons. Ministry of Agriculture counted reach a grain harvest of 127 million tons in bunker weight, in net – more than 123 million tons, said the Minister of Agriculture Dmitry Patrushev. The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) predicted a grain harvest of 126.5 million tons last year, of which 85 million tons of wheat and 41.5 million tons of feed grains.
In July of this year, Patrushev noted that the Ministry of Agriculture maintains the grain harvest forecast at 130 million tons, and called it “one of the best results in the history of the country.”
