In Russia at the beginning of the year, prices for flights in economy class increased sharply – Kommersant

In January-February, average prices for domestic air flights increased sharply in Russia, reports RBC with reference to Rosstat price index data. In January, the growth was 33.9% in annual terms; in February, prices rose by 42%, to 7,244 rubles.

It is clarified that compared to January, average prices for flights in economy class in February increased by 12.7%. This was the largest price increase in February since at least 2008. In February 2023, air tickets increased in price by 6.2% compared to January of the same year.

Yandex Travels revealed similar dynamics. According to the service, in January the price for a round trip flight increased by 32% compared to January last year, to 11.6 thousand rubles, in February – by 42%, to 12.77 thousand rubles. The company clarified that in March air tickets are sold at prices that are already 50% higher than last year.

The upcoming May holidays will be popular dates for travel due to well-located weekends. According to Travelata.ru, the demand for organized tours on these dates has already doubled. At the same time, the market continues to see a gradual shift in demand towards foreign destinations – their share in the structure of bookings for the May holidays is already 91%, the service clarified.
