In 2024, the military-industrial holding Kingisepp Machinery Plant (KMZ) began production of bimetallic bearings for high-power diesel engines and gas turbine units. Previously, they were supplied by the Austrian MIBA.

“The Austrians failed to spoil the mood of Russian industrialists and break the technological chains. KMZ began production of bimetallic bearings of various configurations for the equipment we produce, as well as for third-party customers,” said the managing director of the holding, Mikhail Danilenko. “RIA News”. Mr. Danilenko said that the company had to urgently organize a site for the production of inserts, a foundry, and purchase additional machine tools.

The Austrian MIBA, which left Russia, provided almost all powerful diesel engines and gas turbine units for the automotive industry and military-industrial complex enterprises with such bimetallic bearings. For example, they were used on automated diesel generators for emergency supply of the main reactor of a nuclear power plant.
