In Primorye, a deputy lost his mandate due to the awarding of an honorary title to his father

The powers of the Dalnerechensky City District Duma Deputy Arsen Oganisyan were terminated early due to his violation of anti-corruption legislation, the Primorye Prosecutor’s Office announced today.
In April of this year, deputies of the Dalnerechensk Duma awarded the title of honorary resident of the city district to local businessman Gevorg Oganisyan. Meanwhile, his son, United Russia member Arsen Oganisyan was a deputy of the city duma. “Despite the presence of personal interest, the official did not take measures to prevent and resolve conflicts of interest, and, in violation of anti-corruption legislation, continued to participate in voting on the issue indicated on the agenda,” informs supervisory agency.
Based on information from the prosecutor’s office, the governor of Primorye Oleg Kozhemyako demanded that the Dalnerechensk Duma deputies make a decision on the early termination of Mr. Hovhannisyan’s powers, but the representative body decided to limit itself to only a warning. Only after a protest from the prosecutor’s office was the deputy deprived of his mandate, and solution the idea of conferring an honorary title on his relative was cancelled.
An honorary resident of the Dalnerechensky urban district has the right of extraordinary reception by heads and officials of local government bodies, as well as heads of municipal institutions and enterprises. He may also participate in the consideration of issues of public importance by the local duma with the right of an advisory vote.
