The European Union and Germany are trying to change power in Poland, said Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic Sebastian Kaleta, write RIA Novosti with reference to Die Welt.
“We are forced to assume that politicians in Brussels are acting maliciously and are seeking a change of power in Poland,” Kaleta said, stressing that the country would not tolerate this.
This is how the official commented on the EU blocking the payment of 36 billion euros to Warsaw from the COVID fund. According to the deputy minister, the European Union is delaying the transfer of funds, threatening not to pay another 75 billion euros from the union’s budget. At the same time, Warsaw is ready to compromise, but Brussels, in turn, puts forward new demands. Kaleta also believes that Germany is interfering in the election campaign of Poland, imposing its will.
In December 2020, the European Parliament approved the EU budget plan for 2021-2027 in the amount of 1.074 trillion euros, which provides for a mechanism for distributing money while respecting the rule of law. This amount will be supplemented by another 750 billion euros from the EU Recovery Fund, aimed at supporting the economy after the COVID-19 pandemic. However, Poland and Hungary opposed the above allegations. Countries do not agree with the mechanism for monitoring compliance with the rule of law in the distribution of funds.
