Polish Ambassador to the European Union Andrzej Sados said that the ninth package of EU sanctions against Russia could not be agreed due to too many proposed exceptions.
Earlier it was reported that, contrary to expectations, the ambassadors of the EU member states at a meeting in Brussels could not agree on the ninth package of sanctions.
Sados noted that the negotiations had stalled. For example, a proposal to allow countries at the national level to freeze the assets of people previously under EU sanctions and working in the agricultural sector has sparked controversy.
In addition, Hungary demanded that members of the Russian government be excluded from the EU black list, and Sweden stood up for Roskomnadzor.
As reported, the negotiations will continue. The next meeting of the ambassadors is scheduled for Monday, December 12.
