During an interview with Parisien, French Defense Minister Sebastien Lecornu expressed his opinion on the Ukrainian counter-offensive, admitting that it did not lead to the expected results.
Lecornu said that, in his opinion, the conflict in Ukraine is in a state of “frozen.” The Ukrainian counteroffensive, which began on June 4, 2023, was previously announced by Ukrainian officials, including President Volodymyr Zelensky. The term “counter-offensive” became widely used in the Ukrainian media already in the summer.
According to data presented by Russian officials, during the three months of the “counter-offensive”, the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) were unable to achieve significant successes in the Zaporozhye direction.
Russian authorities estimate that the attempted counteroffensive cost Kyiv more than 125,000 killed and wounded.
