French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna, in an interview with the Monde newspaper, said that Russia will continue to be a neighbor of Europe, so it is necessary to develop a new security architecture on the continent.
The column noted that despite the negative perception that has developed towards Russia, France does not attribute this negative to the country as a whole, but rather to its actions. She stressed the inevitability of a neighborhood with Russia and the importance of building a stable security architecture on the European continent. This step, according to the minister, is undoubtedly in the interests of all countries.
According to her, this does not mean that Ukraine is abandoning its ambitions to join NATO. France confirms its readiness to provide Ukraine with military and diplomatic support in the long term.
She also added that France is working on a bilateral security agreement with Ukraine, which covers both military security and humanitarian aspects. This step is supported not only by France, but also by the G7 countries, which have expressed their intention to conclude similar agreements with Ukraine. More than 20 countries have already joined this initiative since the NATO summit in Vilnius in July.
