Provocateurs also came to the gathering place, people shouted anti-Russian slogans, the publication says. The police pushed them out of the square. After the start of the procession, the column headed to the end point of the route – the Pere Lachaise cemetery.
RIA Novosti notes that a motorcade of several police cars was moving behind the column of members of the Immortal Regiment, and the gendarmerie and police forces controlled the procession from different sides. During the action, the police stopped several attempts at provocations.

“I am glad that we have restored the traditional form of the procession from the Republic Square to the Pere Lachaise cemetery,” Meshkov said. The ambassador added that the French authorities had given permission for the rally.
