Moscow’s video surveillance system is being used to determine the place of residence of conscripts, Moscow’s military commissar Maxim Loktev said. According to him, the main reason for non-appearance at the military registration and enlistment offices is living outside the place of registration – because of this, Muscovites cannot be served with a summons. Mr. Loktev noted the assistance of the capital’s mayor’s office and educational organizations in the search for recruits.

“To determine the place of residence of the conscript, video surveillance systems in the city of Moscow are used, at the direction of the Mayor of Moscow, organizations in which conscripts work provide information about them to the military commissariats. Educational organizations help us determine where the conscript is studying, ”said the military commissar TASS.

At the same time, Mr. Loktev noted that the number of draft evaders is decreasing every year. In his opinion, this is due to the “painstaking work to explain to citizens about the responsibility” for evasion. “Moreover, with the resources we use, they have nowhere to go,” he added.

In Moscow for service will be called more than 5 thousand people. There are 147 draft commissions in the capital. The military commissar noted that the spring draft of 2023 is no different from the previous ones and runs from April 1 to July 15.

In April, in less than a week, the Russian authorities adopted amendments on the digital registration of those liable for military service. Now, according to the law, a digital agenda will be considered delivered immediately after it appears in the personal account, regardless of whether the addressee noticed it.
