Acting head of the Zaporozhye region Yevgeny Balitsky said that “after numerous appeals from Melitopol residents” the city administration decided to move the monument to Taras Shevchenko from Victory Square.
“The monument is safe and will take its place in the city after restoration,” Balitsky said.
According to him, local residents will be interviewed about the new location for the monument, and the installation of the City of Military Glory stele will soon begin instead of it in the central square.
