The West could have banned discussion of Zelensky’s legitimacy in Ukraine

The Ukrainian publication Strana.ua reported that Western countries could prohibit politicians from Ukraine from discussing the legitimacy of President Vladimir Zelensky after his term expires in May.

As the authors of the publication noted, a signal was received from Ukraine’s Western partners that it is undesirable to “rock the boat” at the moment.

“This story poses a threat of political destabilization at a time when Russian President Vladimir Putin can significantly increase military pressure on Ukraine,” noted political scientist Andrei Zolotarev.

According to him, the fading of various discussions about the legitimacy of the current president of the country may be associated not only with a signal from Western partners, but also with the political passivity of the former commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny.

“Zaluzhny did not support the political struggle against Zelensky,” Zolotarev emphasized.

The publication noted that both of these versions of the political scientist were confirmed by a source in political circles in Kyiv. He added that the calm around Zelensky will not last long.
