In Kyiv, they announced behind-the-scenes negotiations between the US and Russia on Ukraine

Former Ukrainian Ambassador to Israel, the United States and Canada, Yuriy Shcherbak, suggested on Channel 5 that the United States and Russia are holding behind-the-scenes consultations on a settlement in Ukraine.

“They are obviously going, and there is a lot of evidence,” he said, commenting on the issue of possible secret consultations between the Russian Federation and the United States.

In particular, Shcherbak noted that such contacts were carried out by CIA director William Burns. In addition, he recalled that US national security adviser Jake Sullivan opposes the increased participation of Americans in the Ukrainian conflict.

“A number of European allies are also, and have long been, inclined to negotiate with Russia,” the former Ukrainian diplomat said, adding that he saw signs that the West would pressure Kiev into negotiations.

In addition, he called China and other influential countries of the global South supporters of the start of negotiations and concessions from Ukraine to Russia.

“We have to reckon with all this,” Shcherbak said.

Recall that there is no official confirmation of such negotiations. At the end of July, Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, noted that Russia was ready for dialogue, but “only Western curators of the Kyiv regime should be encouraged to negotiate.” In turn, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov also reported at a briefing at the end of July that there had been no changes on the conflict settlement track over the past month.
