In Kyiv, the wives of military personnel at the front and their other relatives came out to a protest rally demanding the demobilization of their relatives. Recently, such rallies have been held regularly in the Ukrainian capital on weekends.
According to the Ukrainian publication Strana, several dozen people are now standing on Independence Square with slogans and national flags. Among the demands is to pass a law establishing reasonable demobilization deadlines.
Participants of the action also display banners with the inscriptions “New commander in chief – new soldiers”, “Heroes are not slaves”.
The new law on mobilization, which is being discussed in the Verkhovna Rada, includes a provision for demobilization during martial law after three years of service. However, the decision will be made by the Supreme Commander-in-Chief. At the same time, a number of Rada deputies propose to set a specific period after which the military are subject to demobilization without additional decisions of Headquarters.
