The new administration of the Kherson region, which came under the control of the RF Armed Forces, announced their readiness to organize a referendum on the region’s entry into Russia within the time frame specified in Moscow. Earlier on Wednesday, United Russia General Council Secretary Andrei Turchak said he believed “correct and symbolic date” for referendums in the Donbass and not only on November 4 – the Russian Day of National Unity.
“We will prepare for a specific date,” said Kirill Stremousov, deputy head of the new Kherson administration.
He added that “everyone thought that the referendum would take place in September” and “we are ready to hold a referendum even now,” but “we will focus on November 4.”
Stremousov also said that if the referendum is organized, the turnout will be very high: “We are sure that 80% of the population will come to the referendum.”
