The Upper House of Japan’s Diet removed Yoshikazu Higashitani’s mandate by a majority vote. He was also previously a YouTube blogger under the pseudonym GaaSyy. This name is applied for systematic absenteeism.
The vote was broadcast live on the website of the Parliament.
This is the first such case in 70 years. Higashitani was also not present at the actual voting, as he is abroad. 235 members of the upper house of parliament voted in favor of depriving him of his mandate, and only one voted against.
