Government of Ivanovo region reported on its website that a farewell ceremony was held at the Ivanovo-Severny airfield for the crew of the A-50 long-range radar detection aircraft, who died during a special military operation.
The farewell ceremony was attended by the Governor of the Ivanovo Region Stanislav Voskresensky, the commander of the Military Transport Aviation, Lieutenant General Vladimir Benediktov, as well as relatives, friends and colleagues of the deceased pilots.
Stanislav Voskresensky, during the funeral speech, emphasized that today they are seeing off on their last journey real heroes who “with their lives and service showed what it means to be a real officer.”
In turn, General Benediktov noted that the pilots, “aware of all the risks, courageously and selflessly fulfilled their military duty.”
All crew members were awarded the Order of Courage posthumously. State awards were given to the families of the fallen heroes.
