In Italy, people protest against the supply of weapons to Ukraine

A protest action was held in Rome against the supply of Western weapons to Kyiv, RIA Novosti reports.
The action was reportedly organized by a group of Italian activists from the Veneto-Russia Association and the public committee Verona for Freedom during the opening of the 100th opera season near the walls of the ancient Roman amphitheater Arena di Verona.
As Palmarino Zoccatelli, President of the Veneto-Russia Association, noted, the organizers took advantage of the fact that numerous representatives of the authorities came to the opening of the opera season. Zoccatelli said that the purpose of the action is to show that not all Italians support the position of the country’s government regarding the Russian-Ukrainian conflict.
He pointed out that the supply of weapons to Kyiv only stimulates the continuation of the confrontation, and these weapons systems, including Italian ones, are used against civilians.
In January, the Italian parliament approved a government decree that provides for the continuation in 2023 of various assistance to Ukraine, including the supply of weapons. In February, the government approved the next, sixth package of military aid to Kyiv.
