Germany does not have available Patriot anti-missile defense (ABM) systems to send to Ukraine, said the official representative of the country’s cabinet, Steffen Hebeshtreit.
According to him, Berlin has already agreed to deploy three Patriot missile defense systems in eastern Poland. “These are the three available Patriot systems. So it’s not that Germany doesn’t want to take a specific step, but that there are no systems available,” said Hebestreit (quote according to TASS).
In early December, Berlin promised to place Patriot complexes in Poland, not Ukraine, in order to increase the security level of its NATO partner. The parties are starting to place the complexes and connect them to the Polish control system.
The White House previously confirmed that on December 21, President Joe Biden will announce a new military assistance package for Ukraine in the amount of almost $ 2 billion. In particular, it will include Patriot systems. The Kremlin, commenting on earlier information about this, called the Patriot complexes legitimate military targets of the Russian Armed Forces, if NATO supplies them to Ukraine.
