In Bulgaria, protesters blocked the road to the temple, which houses the Russian ambassador to the republic, Eleonora Mitrofanova, and Metropolitan Anthony (Sevryuk) of Volokolamsk, writes Novinite edition. The protesters shouted anti-Russian slogans.
“Protesters against the visit of the chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate blocked the Russian church in the center of Sofia,” the publication says. How clarified at the Russian embassy in Sofia, the report about the protesters is “a bit exaggerated.”

The Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR) previously reported that the Bulgarian Consulate informed Russian tour operators about the suspension of the acceptance of documents for tourist visas. The reason for this is the decision of the Russian Foreign Ministry to declare 14 Bulgarian diplomats persona non grata in response to the expulsion of 70 employees of the Russian diplomatic mission in the republic, as well as the suspension of the Consulate General in Ruse.
On June 28, it became known that Sofia was expelling 70 diplomats and technical workers of the Russian embassy, who were previously accused by the country’s authorities of activities that threaten the national security of Bulgaria. The nature of the claims was not specified.
