The Times: UAF counteroffensive will not end Russian special operation
The counteroffensive of the Ukrainian army will not be able to end the current conflict. So says political scientist Mark Galeotti in an article for a British newspaper The Times.
The expert suggested that even if the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) manage to take Crimea and the territory of Donbass under their full control during the offensive, Russia will not surrender. According to him, the actions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will not lead to the advantage of one of the parties.
Galeotti claims he had a conversation with a senior United States official, but he was unable to predict what the outcome of the Ukrainian counteroffensive would be, despite the large amount of intelligence provided.
“There are too many variables here, too many unknowns,” an American official told the political scientist.
At the same time, Galeotti’s interlocutor expressed uncertainty that the Ukrainians would be able to adapt to the weapons that they would receive from Western countries.
