The German Foreign Ministry made a statement that they have no information about any involvement of Russia in the events that took place in Niger. Foreign Ministry spokesman Sebastian Fischer told reporters about this during his briefing.
According to him, the German department has no information that “Russian forces” played any “role during the putsch.”
But at the same time, according to him, during the coup d’état in Niger, cases of “pro-Russian disinformation” were revealed. In this regard, Sebastian Fischer noted the Russian flags that were seen on video recordings and broadcasts during the coup in an African country. He did not provide other details.
Earlier in Niger, a group of military men staged a mutiny and on the night of July 27 announced the removal of Niger’s President Mohamed Bazum from power, the closure of borders, the imposition of a curfew and the suspension of the constitution.
