In Armenia, the court imposed a suspended sentence on the accused of kidnapping the son of Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan Ashot. About it informs Sputnik Armenia.
The court found Gayane Hakobyan guilty of kidnapping and sentenced her to four years of probation with a probationary period of one year. A woman will not be able to leave the country without a court order. She refused the services of lawyers and decided to plead guilty.
Pashinyan said he would not appeal the verdict.
May 17 about the attempted kidnapping of the son of the Prime Minister of Armenia wrote “Haykakan Zhamanak” newspaper. Journalists said that members of the public organization “Call of Sons” tried to kidnap Pashinyan Jr. Members of the organization forced the prime minister’s son into their car, but he managed to free himself. Representatives of the Call of Sons stated that Pashinyan voluntarily got into the car, but then jumped out of it himself.
Later, the Investigative Committee of the country opened a criminal case on attempted theft. Then Hakobyan was arrested.
The Call of Sons is an organization that was created by the parents of the military who died in 2020 in Karabakh. On May 8, the founding member of the organization, Ara Rostomya, stated that the organization was starting an active struggle, the main demand of which was the resignation of the current Armenian authorities. Hakobyan is the mother of a serviceman who died in the war.
