Central Bank reportedthat in 2023 the number of operating credit institutions with the participation of non-residents decreased from 108 to 96 units. In 2022, there were 115 such organizations. The total authorized capital of credit institutions at the end of last year increased by 12%, to RUB 3,409.9 billion.

The Central Bank report notes that in 2023, investments by non-residents in the authorized capital of credit institutions decreased by 9%, to 335.5 billion rubles. As of January 1, 2024, the share of foreign currencies in the total authorized capital was 7% (2% less than in 2022).

In early March, Kommersant wrote, citing data from the Central Bank, that in 2023 the number of Russian banks under the control of non-residents decreased by more than 12%, to 57 credit institutions. This number includes banks in which, even if formally they belong to Russian owners, the final beneficiary is a foreign person.
