Since the beginning of 2023, three new consulates have appeared in the regions of Russia, and the start of work of four more diplomatic missions has been approved at the level of the Russian government, Vedomosti calculated. On July 12, the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of South Africa (South Africa) opened in Yekaterinburg with the participation of the Ambassador of this country, Mzuvukile Maketuki.

“The opportunities provided by the opening of an honorary consulate in this region are enormous. One of the important components of our work in this region will be cultural projects. In particular, music,” the diplomat said during the ceremony (quote from Interfax). The attention of the diplomatic mission, according to Maketuka, will be focused on trade, investment, educational programs, and the exchange of scientific ideas. The sphere of activity of the diplomatic object will be the Ural Federal District and the Perm Territory. Sergei Mazurkevich, General Director of the Ural Mining Holding, has been appointed Honorary Consul of South Africa.
