The Israel Defense Forces press office reported that the Lebanese Hezbollah movement is firing from areas near the United Nations compound, thereby endangering soldiers of the UN Interim Force in Lebanon and continuing to violate UN Security Resolution 1701.
One of the missiles was fired 20 meters from the complex, the report said.
On the morning of October 7, Hamas fighters infiltrated the border areas of southern Israel, killing and taking hostage many civilians and military personnel, and launched more than 3,000 rockets into the country. The number of victims was at least 1,400 people, most of them civilians. Many of the dead were participants in the music festival. The attack was the largest mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. In response, Israel launched Operation Iron Swords against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
On November 24, a truce was declared for the exchange of some hostages and prisoners. It was initially announced for 4 days, then extended, but ended on December 1.
In December, the IDF repeatedly reported that Hezbollah had launched missiles in the direction of Israel from Lebanon, and also reported retaliatory strikes by the Israeli army.
