IDF confirms Islamic Jihad responsibility for Gaza hospital attack

The Israeli Army (IDF) has completed its investigation and confirmed that Islamic Jihad (an organization designated as terrorist and banned in Russia) is responsible for the attack on Al-Ahli Baptist Hospital in the Gaza Strip. IDF spokesman Daniel Hagari said this during a briefing.
“The IDF has completed its investigation and confirms that Islamic Jihad is responsible for the Gaza hospital bombing,” he said (cit. according to TASS).
On the evening of October 17, it became known about an attack on the Al-Ahly Baptist hospital in the Gaza Strip. The airstrike killed at least 500 people, Al Jazeera reported, citing the Gaza Ministry of Health. Al Arabiya later reported on X (Twitter) that more than 800 casualties were civilians. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas declared three days of mourning for the victims. Later, three days of mourning were also declared in Iraq.
The Israeli Army (IDF) later released a statement linking the incident to an unsuccessful rocket launch towards Israel by Islamic Jihad, also based in Gaza. The launcher was located in close proximity to the hospital, they added. A similar opinion was expressed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who blamed the attack on terrorists.
The IDF has been carrying out strikes on the Gaza Strip since October 7, after the Palestinian group Hamas began fighting against Israel. Against the backdrop of the militant attack, the IDF launched Operation Iron Swords, and the country went into a state of war. 300,000 reservists were also mobilized. According to the latest data, over 3,000 Palestinians and 1,400 Israelis have died as a result of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
