Israeli troops operate within the city of Gaza and surround it from several sides at once. About it stated IDF Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi, The Times of Israel reports.

“We have advanced to another important stage of the war. The forces are in the very center of northern Gaza, operating in Gaza City, surrounding it, deepening [наземное наступление] and are making progress,” the publication quotes Halevi as saying in a statement from the Air Force base.

According to him, we are talking mainly about actions in close combat.

“The ground forces are accompanied by precise reconnaissance, fire from the air and sea. This interaction makes the fight much more effective,” Halevi added.

According to the IDF chief of staff, the Israeli Air Force is operating in Gaza with “significant forces.” But he emphasizes that less than half the Israeli air force is deployed in Gaza. Most of them are on standby “in case the need arises to attack on other fronts.”

The Gaza-based Palestinian group Hamas attacked southern Israel on October 7. The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) responded by launching Operation Iron Swords. On October 27, the IDF announced an expansion of ground operations in the enclave and called on residents of the northern Gaza Strip to move to the south, promising them humanitarian assistance.

According to the latest data, more than 10,000 people have died as a result of the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Gaza reported more than 9,000 deaths in Israeli strikes, and about 1,400 people were killed in Israel after the group’s attack.
