IDF calls on Gazans to evacuate south

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) called on Gaza civilians to evacuate to the south. About it it says in the army’s Telegram channel.
“The Israel Defense Forces calls on all residents of Gaza City to leave their homes, move south for their protection and move to the area south of Wadi Gaza,” the statement said.
In addition, residents should not approach the security fence zone on the border with Israel, the statement emphasizes. Citizens will be able to return to their homes after notifying the Israeli army.
The IDF says the evacuation is necessary for the safety of civilians as the army intends to continue attacks on targets used by Hamas militants. It is clarified that militants are hiding in Gaza in tunnels under houses in which civilians are located.
Earlier today, UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said that the Israeli Ministry of Defense and the IDF notified the organization of the demand for 1.1 million civilians in Gaza (a total of 2.3 million people live in Gaza, writes Reuters) move south within 24 hours. The evacuation call also applies to all UN staff and those taking shelter at UN sites, including schools and hospitals. Dujarric said the UN “deems such a transfer impossible without devastating humanitarian consequences.”
