IAEA to expand presence in Ukraine to prevent nuclear accident

Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Rafael Grossi announced the expansion of its presence in Ukraine. According to him, they decided to take these measures in order to prevent a nuclear accident.
“The IAEA is expanding its presence in Ukraine to help prevent a nuclear accident during the current conflict. I am proud to be leading this mission in Ukraine, during which we will organize a presence at all nuclear power plants in the country,” Mr. Grossi wrote on Twitter.
This week the head of the IAEA will visit Ukraine. Rafael Grossi will go to the South Ukrainian and Rovno nuclear power plants (NPPs), as well as to the Chernobyl site, each of which will deploy a mission of two IAEA experts. The Agency has already deployed four experts to the Zaporozhye NPP, and it is also planned to send two to the Khmelnytsky NPP. Mr. Grossi after this trip intends meet again with Vladimir Putin.
