Hungary urges NATO to prevent escalation of conflict with Russia

Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto called the Kaliningrad region one of the “most militarized territories in Europe”, and the Baltic region, probably “one of the most difficult to defend in NATO’s area of responsibility.” The diplomat urged the alliance to prevent the escalation of the conflict with Russia.
According to Szijjártó, this is now one of the main tasks of the military bloc. Speaking at a military base in Siauliai (Lithuania) to the Hungarian pilots, he stressed that the region is very difficult in terms of security. Pilots must act with the utmost responsibility to prevent a direct confrontation between NATO and Russia.
“You must guarantee our security, sometimes even in close contact with the Russian Air Force, so that this thread is not broken,” the Foreign Minister said.
He stressed that protecting the airspace of the Baltic republics can be considered the most difficult task that the Hungarian military will perform.
