Hungary postpones vote on Sweden’s admission to NATO
[ad_1]
The Hungarian parliament voted by a majority to reject the vote on Sweden’s application for NATO membership. This was reported by the Associated Press (AP), citing a statement by Agnes Vadai, a deputy from the opposition Democratic Coalition party.
Vadai clarified that the question of considering this application was rejected by the ruling Fidesz party, led by the country’s head of government, Viktor Orban. She also added that deputies will be able to put Sweden’s application to the vote again only in November.
As AP notes, before this, Orban’s party members criticized the Swedish authorities, who told “blatant lies” about the state of democracy in Hungary.
